After years of dreaming, a few years of saving, and a little over a month of boat prep, it was finally time to cast off and embark on a sailing journey that I had been dreaming about since high school. With no set destination in sight, the only goal was to head south as quickly as possible in hopes of finding waves and warmer waters. At 23 years of age, I couldn't have been more stoked about the adventures & challenges that lay ahead and was ready for whatever would be thrown my way . Fidelity, the Catalina 34 that would be my home for the next 9 months, was completely packed & provisioned. We had everything we thought we needed to start the journey. After saying our final farewells to family and friends, the time to cast off finally arrived. Together with my good friend Andrew, we untied the dock lines and headed through the channel from Frenchman's Bay to Lake Ontario. It was time to set sail on a 24 hour overnight sail to Oswego, New York. We waved good bye as we motored out the channel and hoisted the sails as the day quickly turned to night...
